In this commercial the argument is a Mac computer vs. a PC
computer. They argue how the Mac is better because if someone steps on a cord
the Mac’s cord is magnetic so it pops off. Whereas the PC’s cord is a plug and
it will just knock the computer onto the ground a ruin it. They also say how Mac has thought everything
through so that it can’t be damaged easily.
They show this by having an old guy in a wheel chair with cast all over be
the PC, and they Mac is a younger guy undamaged and happy. They used a younger
guy to show that the Mac is a better choice saying it can move faster and it is
a newer thing. They used an older man as the PC to show that it moves slower
and that it is an older thing. Kids these days like the newer “younger” things.
In this argument the audience is a younger generations or college students that
are looking to buy a computer. They show
this by using a younger man and an older man as well. I think that this is a
great way to argue that Mac is a better choice than a PC. They use very clever ways to determine which
is better and they use the same thing in most all of their commercials.

Beyond the age differential in the picture, what other strategies are the advertisers using to persuade their audience?
